My evening in the Lafayette Square neighborhood of St. Louis continued with a stop for dinner at Planter’s House. I received a warm welcome and was seated at a high top table in the bar area.
Planter’s House has an extensive and innovative hand crafted cocktail menu. It was hard for me to decide where to begin, so I opted for the Saffron Sour – North Shore #11 Gin, Golden Raisin Saffron Liqueur, Lemon, Egg White and Angostura Bitters. It was foamy and delicious. Saffron Liqueur was definitely a first for me!
For dinner it was the Kale Salad – chopped kale with butternut squash vinaigrette, farro, pickled celery root, zucchini bread crumbs, beet chips and yogurt. Not your average kale salad by any means. I paired this with Ricotta Potato Pancakes – served with six minute egg, roasted mushrooms and pickled ancho chile. I think the pictures below will tell the story – AAAA . . . MA . . . ZING!!
I will definitely be back to Planter’s House and recommend you check them out, too, next time you’re in St. Louis. This cozy spot is located at 1000 Mississippi Avenue in the Lafayette Square neighborhood. My Uber driver told me the building is rumored to be haunted, too. So you might see some “spirits” with your spirits.
