If you are looking for a truly special cocktail experience, you absolutely must go to the Mandarin Bar at the Mandarin Oriental. I make it a point to go every time I’m laying over in Las Vegas. And lucky for me, this particular layover was loooong, with a late pickup the next morning, which means I could relax and enjoy.
Located on the 23rd Floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the Mandarin Bar overlooks the strip with incredible views in all directions.
It is a very tasteful, beautiful, civilized place that is a sanctuary of sorts for me atop the Vegas strip. Their cocktails are delicious, as is the complimentary snack trio you are so very graciously presented with. The staff, including hosts, bartenders and servers are all very kind.
I opted for The Gold Leaf, aka Mandarin Martini, a beautiful combination of Hendricks Gin, Aperol, muddled Mandarin oranges, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice and housemade simple syrup, to start.
In talking with Michael and SeongHa, the two very talented and knowledgeable bartenders, SeongHa took the time to show and discuss with me different gins, recommending I try The Botanist, one I’d never had before, with an unusual flavor, from Scotland. He made me a classic martini, and wow, it was amazing. The Botanist has been added to my list of favorite gins.
With that, I called it a night. It was another extremely memorable and enjoyable evening at The Mandarin Bar. Please treat yourself the next time in Vegas with a stop at the Mandarin Bar. They are located on the Strip at 3752 Las Vegas Boulevard South.
